Here are some of the main attractions you can expect to see during the trek:
Scenic Beauty: Helambu Trek offers scenic beauty of lush green forests, snow-covered mountains, and terraced fields. The trek offers breathtaking views of Mt. Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, and Jugal Himal ranges.
Unique Culture: The Helambu region is mainly inhabited by the Hyolmo and Tamang communities, who have a unique culture and way of life. You will have the opportunity to visit traditional Hyolmo and Tamang villages and observe their daily lifestyle, cultural practices, and religious ceremonies.
Wildlife: Helambu Trek also offers the opportunity to spot various wildlife, including the red panda, Himalayan black bear, musk deer, and the grey langur monkey.
Buddhist Monasteries: The trek passes through several Buddhist monasteries and chortens (stupas), where you can learn about Tibetan Buddhism and the history of the region.
After an early morning breakfast in Kathmandu, you’ll drive to Sundarijal (1-hour) and begin trekking towards Chisapani. The trail takes you through Shivapuri National Park and offers good views of the Kathmandu Valley.
After breakfast, you’ll begin your trek to Kutumsang. The trail takes you through beautiful forests of rhododendron and oak, with views of the Langtang and Ganesh Himal ranges. You’ll spend the night in Kutumsang.
Today’s trek is a bit more challenging as you ascend towards Thadepati. You’ll pass through forests and cross a few streams along the way. As you reach Thadepati, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the mountains.
Today’s trek takes you downhill through lush forests and traditional Hyolmo villages. You’ll pass through Melamchi-Gaon, which is a traditional Hyolmo village. After lunch at Melamchi-Gaon, you will head to Tarkeghyang for overnight.
Today’s trek takes you through more Hyolmo villages, with stunning views of the mountains. You’ll pass through beautiful forests of rhododendron and oak before reaching Sermathang. You’ll spend the night in Sermathang.
After breakfast, you’ll catch a bus / Jeep back to Kathmandu. The bus journey takes about 5 hours.
The Helambu Trek is usually a 5-7 days trek, depending on the route you take and the pace you set.
